Cities are a net of streets. Facades are only the backdrop to the real stage. Where the scene Public life is played. But Prague contains another layer. The passageways. They allow the actors to get from one scene to another quickly. The passageways create another net, allowing you to walk through them, something without walking along the streets. And they play a bigger part of the drama then you first would think.
As a tool to get to know Prague I decided to dedicate one project to map all passages in the city center. To see there relation to each other, which similarities and differences they have and what their history are. Before the passageways there were lane ways between buildings to get from one street to another. They have continued to be short cuts after they were built into the buildings, but have lately become more commercialized. Could small interventions shift the focus and highlight the already impressive architectural spaces?
