HÖGDALSTOPPARNA, STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN - AUTUMN 2019
To me, a heap is an organized or randomized composition of objects, where through one lens you see the heap as one whole, and through another, you distinguish the objects making the heap by themselves. My heap is of the organized category, due to a series of early labs in which I analyzed an aerial view of Högdalstoppen and creating a tool to rake the site. These labs led up to a plaster casting which became the general volume logic and the starting point for my heap. How do you heap inside a strict from? The organization of my building debris objects is rather strictly to have the similar straightness to the precursor. How the objects looked or faced each other inwards was not as important to me at the early stage, but gained important to different the outer and inner side of the heap together with creating an interesting space. The objects are never leaning onto each other, rather they are resting on each other creating orthogonal distribution. To give my heap the same distinct elevation as the plaster model, I let the tool rake the heap in the same way as it raked the site. This generated an obvious front, an entrance, an ancient portico. This is when architecture starts to figure. It draws you in and evokes curiosity.
